Is the swim safe?

While we all know the risks involved with swimming, we take every precaution possible to ensure that the swim portion of the event is as safe as possible. We will have several lifeguards in the water along with people in kayaks, jet skis and boats. If you need to hang on to one of them or feel that you cannot continue, they are there to help you. Wetsuits are allowed and the water temperature is usually around 72˚.

Will my time be adjusted for my late start?

Since we use chip timing your time does not start until your wave begins and stops when you cross the finish line. Our timing is done by Pickle Events.

I’m from out of town and not familiar with Duluth. Where can I stay?

Duluth and the North Shore are very popular tourist destinations. The majority of hotels in Duluth are within 10 miles of Pike Lake. Go to visitduluth.com or visitsuperior.com to book lodging.

Do I have to use a bike helmet or can I wear my hockey helmet from when I was in high school?

You are required to have bicycle helmet that is approved by the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). Any participant that does not have an approved helmet will not be allowed to race.
